Bollywood actress Shikha Puri has said that being a professional actress she has no qualms about doing a nude scene. Shikha will soon be be seen playing Parveen Babi in the film The Three Kings based on the actress' life and her relationship with director Mahesh Bhatt. The Reynolds Baines directed movie will have characters bearing stark resemblance to Amitabh Bachchan, Kabir Bedi and Mahesh Bhatt.

Shikha who has recently posed topless for the documentary The Dog will pose nude for a bathroom scene. There are about 3-5 nude scenes in the film which will be made at a budget of Rs 10 crore. The movie will depict the dark sides of Parveen Babi’s life, including her addiction to drugs and multiple romantic

Biography

Brooke Christa Shields was born May 31st, 1965, in New York, NY. The daughter of now divorced Frank and Teri -- a former Revlon executive and model -- it seems that Brooke had modeling written all over her.

As her manager, Brooke's mother wasted no time getting her started in the industry, and at 11 months young, Brooke posed in commercials for Ivory Snow.

Although it didn't take much convincing to see that Brooke had the natural beauty necessary to model, her mother's aggressiveness and persuasive attitude helped launch Brooke's career. She was a popular model by the age of 12, and she would soon have acting on her portfolio.

Brooke did random television stints in features such as Change of Heart and The Diamond Trap; the title role in 1989's Brenda Starr; and a cameo in Speed Zone!. The leggy actress has seen a lot of turbulence in her personal life. She dated Liam Neeson, John F. Kennedy Jr. and Dean Cain, was engaged to tennis pro Andre Agassi after a much-publicized relationship (coincidentally, Brooke's grandfather, Francis X. Shields, is a former tennis champ), and is now married to TV writer Chris Henchy since April 2001, after her 2-year failed marriage to Agassi. In January of 2000, Brooke's stalker of 15 years was arrested but pleaded innocent.

Brooke was last seen in several guest appearances on Just Shoot Me, as well as the 2001 film After Sex, and the made-for-TV movies What Makes a Family and Widows.

Katie Holmes has signed on to star in Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark, the latest scary fillum from the demented mind of Guillermo del Toro*.

Katie Holmes is to travel to Australia this summer to star in a new thriller.

Based on a 1973 television movie, Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark tells of a young girl who moves into a new house along with her dad and his girlfriend, only to find that they share the property with devilish monsters. Which, we’re guessing, wasn’t mentioned in the brochure. And we’re also guessing that Holmes will play the girlfriend in one of her first major movie gigs since Batman Begins.

Because Del Toro is busy making something called The Hobbit, he’ll be restricting his involvement on this to writing and producing. The writing duties have been shared with Matthew Robbins, the producing duties with Mark Johnson, while the directing duties have gone to first-timer, Troy Nixey, who caught Del Toro’s eye with a short film called Latchkey’s Lament.

But the film will be marketed as a ‘Gullermo Del Toro Presentation’, further proof that the Pan’s Labyrinth director’s name has gained suitable levels of prestige over the last couple of years.

Filming will start on the Miramax film this summer in Melbourne.

Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Katie Holmes acted in high school theater productions before meeting a manager who encouraged her to go to LA for television's pilot season. But because they wanted her to come on the opening night for Damn Yankees, Katie had to tell them she couldn't make it. During her first year with "Dawson's Creek" (1998), Katie was able to do two movies, Disturbing Behavior (1998) and Go (1999), and, for the former, she won Best Breakthrough Female Performance in the 1999 MTV Movie Awards. The following year, she starred next to Michael Douglas in Wonder Boys (2000), playing Hannah Green, a published author and a boarder at her teacher's (Douglas) house, who has a crush on him, and tries to seduce him.

Accustomed to being in North Carolina filming ten months out of a year, the cast members now had the opportunity to make more movies. Katie demonstrated this in October, when she had two new movies, Pieces of April (2003) and The Singing Detective (2003), coming out in that month alone. Pieces of April (2003) is a charming Thanksgiving movie about April (Holmes), the black sheep of her family, who wants to give her family the perfect dinner before her mother passes on. The Singing Detective (2003) is a dark musical where the main character (Robert Downey Jr.) is a writer in a hospital for skin conditions who writes a dark world of seduction and murder in his mind. Katie Holmes plays the kind Nurse Mills who tends to his every need.
She also gets to lip-sing and dance in this movie. Her 2004 movie schedule included the upcoming romantic movie First Daughter (2004), in which she plays the President's (Michael Keaton) daughter, Samantha, who wants to go to college without any Secret Service tagging along. Currently filming for release in 2005 is Batman Begins (2005), a new Batman movie where Katie plays Rachel Dawes, a childhood sweetheart and love interest to Batman/Bruce Wayne.

America’s Next Top Model Casting Free of Tears

Hundreds of young women subjected themselves to certain heartbreak early Saturday in Midtown Manhattan, rising before dawn to line up, primp and be scrutinized and summarily rejected by the judges for “America’s Next Top Model,” the reality show.

At least this time there was no near riot. This weekend’s casting in New York was a do-over after things went terribly wrong four weeks ago, when a car overheated and began smoking in front of hundreds of aspiring models. They had been waiting along a jammed sidewalk outside the Park Central Hotel and were frightened en masse after seeing the smoke and fearing an explosion was next. Barricades were toppled, people were knocked over, arrests were made and the casting was called off.

Saturday’s casting, at the Pennsylvania Hotel on Seventh Avenue, saw no such drama — the police arranged barricades along West 33rd Street to contain the line in a snakelike fashion. Yet the orderliness of the proceedings did little to lessen the sting of defeat.

“We were a little shellshocked, a little hurt,” said Jenny Whoa, who lined up at 6:15 a.m. and was rejected by a judge almost as soon as she was herded into the judging room with dozens of other women (Tyra Banks, the show’s host, head judge and executive producer, was not in attendance). Ms. Whoa lives in Brooklyn and is diminutive by modeling industry standards, but tried out because the height limit for the show’s next installation is 5-foot-7. At 27, though, Ms. Whoa is at the upper age limit for contestants (the minimum age is 18). “It was,” she said, “my first and last chance, all in one swoop.”

The doors opened at 6 a.m. Women of all shapes and sizes arrived from the five boroughs and beyond: supermarket cashiers, store clerks, Federal Express employees, students, dropouts, all eager, even desperate, to be plucked from their regular lives and transformed into fodder for the reality television mill.

The height limit was ignored by a handful of statuesque women, including Mecca Aaron, who lives in Downtown Brooklyn and is 6-foot-3. “I’m hoping to be the exception,” said Ms. Aaron, 25, who said it was her fourth time trying out.

Shakiesha Watson, who is 18 and five feet tall, took a train from Trenton before dawn and had not bothered going to sleep Friday night. Alana Smith, 19, arrived in the city at dawn after taking an overnight bus from Toronto with her boyfriend. They had arrived in Toronto on a cheap flight from California: Ms. Smith, who is 5-foot-5, had always wanted to model, but had missed the show’s auditions out West.

Once the women got inside the hotel, their bags were searched, their bodies were traced with security wands and they were handed numbered stickers. They were directed up an escalator — the eager faces going up starkly contrasted by the defeated visages coming down — and into a vast, fluorescent-bathed holding room filled with 1,500 metal folding chairs. The room was never full; by midday Saturday an estimated 1,200 women had come through. Ultimately, 13 finalists from auditions in several cities will make it to the show.

The women were seated in groups of two dozen or so, and it was then that the jitters really set in. Sneakers and socks were replaced with stilettos, strapped on with trembling fingers. Mirrors were whipped out, lips were daubed with gloss and the last errant hairs were patted down. Nervous giggles often swept the groups, which, moments later, would be led into a curtained-off area for their reckoning.

Shortly before 9 a.m., one young woman was plucked from a group and escorted out, her mouth twisted in protest as a security guard led her by the elbow to the door. A spokesman for the CW, the television network that produces the show, said she was a “repeat offender” — she had already been rejected but rejoined the line in the hopes of catching the eye of a different judge.

More often than not, the young women emerged from the judging rooms with long faces and teary, red-rimmed eyes. It proved nearly impossible to find anyone who had made it to the next round (the statuesque Ms. Aaron was also rejected).

“It doesn’t discourage me,” said Tela Williams, who is 18 and had gotten up at 3:45 a.m. to journey to Midtown from North Brunswick, N.J., after she emerged, rejected, from the Pennsylvania Hotel. “At the end of the day you’re beautiful to someone.” Then she popped open her umbrella and disappeared into the rain and crowds of New York.

Chinese designer Hai Yan Wang wowed the audience with her exquisitely-tailored menswear. Mute colours allowed the precision tailoring to speak for itself. Dora Szilagyi 's collection was heavily influenced by her own cultural heritage. Traditional Hungarian needlework patterns are woven onto contemporary shapes and colours, illustrating the designer's own experiences as a Hungarian living in the UK.
Dora Szilagyi noted: "My culture is pretty much reflected in my work because I wanted to do my final collection as a tribute to my country, I am not having any plans to return there as I am doing Menswear Fashion and Menswear Fashion in Hungary doesn’t have that tradition that I am working in and I would like to travel and reach the peak the peak of the business and in Hungary I don't really have the possibility."

Thailand-born Teerabul Songvich's collection dazzled the audience with his bold use of traditional Thai colours and embroidery. Shocking pinks, canary yellows and sea blues vie for attention with sequinned and quilted fabrics and daring accessories. He says the course has given him the edge he needs for a future in the industry. Teerabul Songvich , Fashion Graduate, Royal College of Art: "I think the show is coming out alright, it is quite good, I think it's quite good, everybody who knows me…are saying congratulations, which is quite good thing for me. For the future, in the immediate future I am looking for a job first to learn the craft in the business side of it and then after that we will see I might go on my own way and do my own brand."

As this years Graduate course comes to an end, the students themselves face a hectic few months securing sponsorship, staff jobs and freelance design work, says British Satellite News. If the standard at this year's show is anything to go by, it is already plain to see that these are not followers of fashion. They are leaders.

Beautiful top model Ruslana Korshunova dies: "Russian Rapunzel" jumped out of her window this weekend. Why? It is a tragic mystery so far. The shocking death of the beautiful model has left many wondering what might have made Ruslana Korshunova, fall to her death from her Manhattan apartment Saturday.

Actually, the gorgeous green-eyed beauty was from Kazakhstan, but an ethnic Russian... Ruslana had reportedly watched the movie "Ghost" with a former boyfriend the night of her death.

Social networking websites seem to show the young woman had feelings of being lost, confused and unloved and suffered from mood swings. Which seems pretty normal for a 20-year-old girl. But was it serious enough to make her jump out a window?

In one message three months ago she wrote: "I'm so lost. Will I ever find myself?"

An earlier posting, quoted by the New York Daily News, she wrote: "It hurts, as if someone took a part of me, tore it out, mercilessly stomped all over and threw it out."

One cryptic entry in March reads: "My dream is to fly. Oh, my rainbow it is too high."

Other postings revealed anger. "I'm a bitch. I'm a witch. I don't care what you say ... I know why my other relationships didn't work out, 'cause I'm unpredictable. "

Her most recent posting, quoted by the New York Daily News, sounds like a discourse on the theme of love.

"Love is the sun, desire – only flash," she wrote.
"Desire dazzles, and the sun gives life."

"Love does not take away from one in order to give to another."

The 5-foot-8, long-haired beauty had been sending money home to her family in the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan.

Cory Bautista, Jennifer Starr and Debbie Dietering all bring their own unique professional perspective to Make Me A Supermodel. Cory has been a top editorial modeling agent for years, Jennifer is a fashion casting director, and Debbie has modeling and is now a runway coach.

As the competition gets even more intense, they all have their own perspectives on what qualities it really takes to make any one of the contestants a true supermodel.

Cory thinks that confidence can take a promotional model far. He says, “One should try to conquer their fears in life but in the case of models it's imperative. They must first get over the fear of being self conscious and shy. Everything else should be a walk in the park…Being a supermodel involves a charisma that must exude confidence without seeming cockiness.”

Debbie thinks that a good attitude can be the key to success. “Clients want to work with models who work hard, have a positive attitude, are fun and enthusiastic, and have a sense of humor about difficult situations,” she wrote in her Bravo blog. “Models are generally treated very well as the talent, sometimes to make up for the difficult situations we are put in. It is usually the models who have a positive attitude that get rebooked. Of course, everyone has heard stories about certain models (you know who they are) behaving badly on jobs, but for most of us, good behavior is usually rewarded.”

As for Jennifer, she says that fearlessness is one of the most important qualities a model can have, but agrees with Debbie that positive outlook is also a crucial element. She says, “During your career as a fashion model you will be asked to do some crazy things and the only way to get through it is to face your fears head on. Being fearless will make you a great model and a great actor…The more you are willing to do, and approach it in a very positive way, the more a photographer will want to book you because they feel that you are capable of doing anything and delivering a good picture. A good attitude is probably the most important quality a model can have.”

So what is supermodel shape? It's definitely not trying to diet so that you have a 24 inch waist like a editorial model. IT'S A HEALTHY SHAPE THAT IS PERFECT FOR YOU!

Here's How:

1. Drink more water. We often mistake thirst for hunger. Always carry a bottle with you. Imagine your calorie intake if you reach for a glass of water instead of a snack.

2. No bad foods... just bad portions. Okay, yes there are bad foods, but as long as you eat a nutrient rich diet the entire day, you can allow yourself to have one small serving from the bad list.

3. Bathing Suit Legs... yes, they can be yours. Add lots of knee bends, lunges and marching to your daily program. Yes I did say marching. Lifting your legs will help shape those thighs. (see tip 2 on marching)

4. Get rid of the belly. Healthy foods high in fibre often contribute to gas and bloating. To avoid this, gradually increase the fibre while cutting back on fizzy soft drinks.

5. Did you know that stress can cause you to swallow a lot of air and contribute to what appears to be a belly. Breath slowly through your nose (to help calm you) and while you are at it... eat slowly.

6. Work lots of ten minute activities into your day. Imagine a walk around the block, lunges while you vacuum, playing frisbee with the kids and my favorite... power shopping.

7. Work out in the pool. You can pump your heart rate while protecting your joints from injury. Try jogging or kick boxing. Sounds like fun to me.

8. According to Patricia Bannan, a nutritian consultant, the shows you watch can either make you want to eat, or turn off the cravings. Believe it or not, you are less likely to want to snack while watching a sitcom.

9. Personal trainer Angela Selinger suggests that we look to our posture. Slumping damages our core muscles. We need to go back to those days when we were told to sit up straight and don't slouch.

10. It's easy to walk. That has to be my all time favorite form of exercise. To make it work for you, add a few extra minutes each week. You won't notice the difference, but your body will and get the promotional models look.

Tips:

Never allowing yourself foods that you love will always backfire. Allow yourself one tiny portion to satisfy the craving.
Can't see yourself marching down the street? Why not try it in the privacy of your home.

Nationwide Fashion Design Contest : Promotional Models Finalist From The Art Institute of California

On November 6, The Humane Society of the United States and The Art Institutes announced the winners of the annual Cool vs. Cruel fur-free fashion design competition.

In its fourth year, The Cool vs. Cruel Competition educates the future generation of designers enrolled in The Art Institutes schools fashion programs about the cruelty of the fur industry, and encourages these designers to explore fur-free, animal-friendly fashions as a viable alternative designed for editorial models.

Tatiana Zaykovskaya from The Art Institute of California & San Diego was announced as the Second Place winner and will receive a $600 cash award for her animal print-inspired design. Zaykovskaya’s black taffeta polyester cocktail dress was created to resemble the look of a mysterious animal. Fabric manipulation techniques were used to highlight the unique textures and embellishments which add dimension to the natural fibers of the fabric.

Sheena Gao, director of fashion design and fashion marketing management said, “Tatiana’s work is exceptionally executed, sophisticated,like promotional model and is a solid representation of cruelty-free creativity. We are privileged to have such a student of natural talent and poise in the fashion department.”

Zaykovskaya was among the 15 local finalists who were chosen out of more than 150 entries to compete for the top prize nationally. Their entries were judged by a star-studded panel of judges, including celebrities and top designers. The HSUS is co-hosting the award presentation with Nigel Barker, world-renowned fashion photographer and judge on “America’s Next Top Model.”

The awards ceremony to celebrate the student designers and their winning garments was held in New York City on Wednesday, Nov.12 at the Bowery Hotel at 335 Bowery, and was attended by many of the celebrity judges.

Selita Ebanks along with a number of other models would be seen in the annual Victorias Secret Fashion Show on CBS that is scheduled for 3rd December from the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel as reported by the New York Daily News on 7th October, 2008. Selita Ebanks was born on 15th February in the year 1983 in George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands which is a British Overseas Territory. She is a well-known Caymanian editorial model by profession.

She is popular for her association with Victoria's Secret and also forms an Angel of Victoria's Secret. She grew up in a large family which also includes her seven brothers. She was also active in playing sports like tennis, soccer and basketball as she was inspired by her brothers. She joined the George Town primary school. She was influenced by her family, specifically her mother inspired her to actively involve in co-curricular activities so that it can help her to become more advanced.

After a period of time she shifted to the United States where she started residing at Staten Island situated in New York. She then shifted to the city of New York where she managed to get through the Spelman College, New York University and Columbia University. Prior to the beginning of her career as a model she even decided to join the study of Law.

At an age of 17 she was noticed by one of the associates of the Elite Model Management. She has managed to work with a number of well-known photographers of the world namely Steven Klein, Carter Smith, Mikael Jansson, Peter Lindbergh and Bruce Weber. She also got associated with several classic American fashion campaigns such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Levi's, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.

She did her initial main modeling campaign during the year 2005 for Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in fashion modeling world. On 26th November 2007 she was featured in a guest role in How I Met Your Mother. She has also been featured in South Beach which is a UPN show. She was also featured on 2007 Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated.

She was also engaged to Nick Cannon however the relationship did not carried for long and they got separated. An announcement was made by the People magazine on October 4, 2007 relating to the breaking of the engagement between the two.

YVES SAINT LAURENT is known for being a design mould breaker (le smoking, anyone?), so it's somewhat understandable that the house's current creative director, Stefano Pilati, has admitted to feeling frustrated with the speed at which the fashion industry is moving forward.

"Look at Courrèges. His space-age fashion model is still just that - a dream of an unrealised future. We haven't caught up with what he was proposing, even now," asserts the designer, who pushed the envelope with baggy-crotch trousers for spring/summer 2009. "Where are the new fabrics and techniques? Compared with, say, the automobile industry, fashion has hardly moved."

So what is Pilati's personal vision of fashion's future?

"Synthetic fibres are so cool. I believe in the nobility of sport and the self-respect that being fit and alert brings to the individual. And it has a lesson for fashion," he tells Colin McDowell in this week's Style magazine. "If the industry is to survive, we can't work in a self-feeding, inward-looking circle of the privileged. We must look wider than that. I love floaty gowns on a catwalk, but we need more than that if fashion is to be relevant."

DESPITE the news that this would be IMG's last season producing LA Fashion Week, the spring/summer 2009 shows got off to a suitably innovative, colourful and eclectic start this weekend with ideas aplenty from the Gen Art Fresh Faces and Fashionably Natural catwalks - we were treated to flamenco-meets-the-Eighties by sister design duo Battalion and necklaces decorated with porcupine skulls, chicken feet and deer legs respectively.

Whitley Kros designers Marisa Ribisi and Sophia Coloma gave us a lesson in holiday-bound dressing - crimson printed tunics, cerulean striped T-shirts, tiny shorts and a stunning lattice bow constructed dress - while Kevan Hall looked to the glamour of old Hollywood for his collection; neat silhouettes, a sophisticated black, white and splashes of yellow and ice blue color palette, smart tailoring and diaphanous gowns.

Shannon Nataf and Dimitry Tcharfas of Suh-Tahn took a philosophical approach to their collection using sheer chiffon layers to create the idea of the inside on the outside and, for her fourth collection, Katy Rodriguez took inspiration from real women with a presentation at which guests - Jeremy Scott and Jared Leto among them - peered through windows to see.

Julia Clancey and Christian Audigier's Ed Hardy range took to the model catwalk yesterday with the latter being inspired by a time when music was defined by personality and bold colours, we were told.

LIGHTS, ACTION, RUNWAY - Producing a Fashion Show

Producing a fashion style show is like directing a movie - coordinating all visual and practical aspects to create one final (but wonderful) production. Although fashion shows can be produced on any budget and for any type of viewers, a game plan is essential to perform perfection.

With more than 20 fashion shows under my strap, I could probably write an entire book (and may still do). However, the following guiding principle will certainly put you on the right track to light up your very own runway!

PREMISE of SHOW
Every fashion show must have an general concept. Is it a Back to School Fashion Show for a mall, a showcase for a local designer, or a charity fundraiser? The client possibilities are endless. Creativity is the key to dress up the show any way you see fit. I have produced many themed events for holidays, stylist collaborations, color/shoes/jewelry/lingerie inspired concepts, and designer or retail-driven shows. Once you have a theme for your runway, the details are much easier to solidify.

MODELS
Agency models know how to strut the catwalk, but can be very expensive. If you don't have the budget to pay industry rates, base your top model search on your client's needs. Are you promoting a children's line and need models under the age of 12? Is this a charity fundraiser with all ticket-holders over the age of 60? Hold a model call and place ads on free bulletins requesting potential models to show up in person to fill out fitting sheets and take Polaroid to remember their look. This is a great way to build your own model base for future shows.

FASHIONS for the RUNWAY
As the producer, you may or may not have to select the clothes for the runway. Based on your show concept, the stylists, designers, or stores might choose the merchandise. In any case, make sure you are familiar with all the garments in the show. Each garment should be returned in the same condition it originated. Take photos at the runway modeling fitting and have a list of all items on each model. When they return their outfit to you after the show, check for all pieces. This way you know who is accountable for what.

PRODUCTION
To get any show ready for the runway, you will need to solidify a venue to host the event, a runway or stage, lighting, music and of course, hair & makeup. Nightclubs, hotels, schools, and malls are popular fashion show venues. However creative spaces can be turned into runways. You may have a DJ to mix the music, a salon sponsoring the hair/makeup, and a multimedia screen on the runway with store logos. Whatever your technical details, make sure everything is tested and ready to go before the show.

SCRIPT
Write out the entire show in a script format. Whether you have an emcee speaking commentary on each outfit or music timed out for each individual scene, the fashion model and fashion order is extremely important to have written down. This will make it much easier to call your show and follow along with the program.

VIP SPONSORS
On occasion, you may work with sponsors paying for the event who want additional publicity onsite. Hang their banners, giveaway promotional gift bags, and/or host a VIP reception for the sponsor's guests. If the sponsor is a restaurant or alcohol/beverage company, feature their product exclusively.

With thorough planning and creativity, a fashion show can be a huge success. And so much better than a boring movie!
